About the Author
A. Clark Gaither, MD, FAAFP, is a family practitioner at Goldsboro Family Physicians located in rural eastern North Carolina. He has served on the Physicians Health Committee of the NC Medical Society, the compliance committee of the NC Physicians Health Program and was past chairman of the NCPHP. He has presented hundreds of lectures throughout the mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions of the country on the topics of hypertension, dyslipidemia, smoking cessation, physician burnout, as well as physician addiction, treatment and recovery related issues. He continues to be a strong advocate and voice for those within the healthcare provider recovery community. In the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous his sobriety date continues to be January 23, 1990 for which he remains eternally grateful.
